Week C
Welcome to Hill House Summer Camps – Week C.
A crazy mix of fun, carnage, competition, reflection and spiritual growth.
Our team are a perfect blend of ages and backgrounds, from Junior Officers at age 16 to some of our oldest team members in their 70’s! Whatever our age, we are full of fun and life and have devoted a week of our Summer to give you the best possible experience we can create, with God right at the very centre.
There is something for everyone. We strive to give people down time and space for reflection and personal moments of calm as well as spiritual growth with a timetable that spans 9am – 10pm or thereabouts!
Our days are action packed with sports or tent v tent competitive games, these are not just sports type activities but include cryptic games, strategy games and much more. We aim to give a taste of something for everyone and points are always a bonus!
We usually split the week into 2 teams, and use that as a base for most activities. We have free time in the afternoons and this can include use of the pool, badminton, volleyball, park, footy pitch, netball pitch indoor games room, as well as running some workshops which provide different interests, these can include vinyl cutting & printing, tote bag decorating, rubix cubing, puzzles, board games, chess, journalling, escape rooms and arts and crafts type stuff as well as the famous Officers vs Campers football match and some point during the week. We have seen some cracking female footballers at that event too! Watch out campers, us officers are keen to keep the cup!
Our evenings usually consist of a gathering where we sing some songs to God, pray together, hear from the Bible and reflect on how that applies to us in our lives today. Camp is a safe place to ask questions and understand the Bible. Nothing is off the table for discussion. We firmly believe growing in your own personal faith is vital, especially in your teenage years and we want to help you with that in a safe place where there’s no judgement, just open, honest conversations about Jesus and how he sees us and loves us.
There is quiet space available during the week for those who need less intensity during the day, but I must warn you, meal times can host all kinds of carnage, from spontaneous songs, forfeits, fancy dress, random accents and much more as well as of course, fantastic food! We usually have a “Camp Banquet” one evening where you can dress up in your best outfits and enjoy being served at your tables by our fabulous team, followed by the famous Silent Disco…. A mosh pit of sweat and dance moves! And don’t forget our fabulous Tuck shop and gift shop too! One can never have enough Haribo Strawbs or Astro Belts!!
There really is something for everyone! So get your adults on that booking form and get signed up! We can’t wait to meet you and build memories with you in the best way possible!!

Hey. I’m Mark Payton and married to Vicky who I met at Hill House back in the 90s! We have two teenage children who love going to Summer Camps.
Having come back to Summer Camps in 2023 (I was a camper and officer during the 90s and 00s), it was so good to see and be a part of the amazing work still going on at Hill House – this place and its work has had such a great impact on my life. It always provides an amazing safe space for young people to have fun, meet other Christians and most importantly to grow and move in their walk with God. I’m really excited to be involved again in running Week C with Esther and really looking forward to seeing what God has planned!
Outside of Summer Camp, I am part of the leadership team at Bourne Christian Centre (BCC) in Kingswood, Bristol and work there as Operations Manager. I am also involved in the children’s and youth work at BCC.

Hey, my name is Esther. I’ve been on Hill House camp since I was 11!
I LOVE it! I was a camper for many years and then went on to serve as an officer to facilitate the weeks of camp happening. It has always been a passion of mine to see Hill House continue to provide a safe, crazy, fun, memory making space for kids of all ages. I made some of my dearest life long friends at Hill House Camps and I’d love to know others have the same testimony one day.
I love this place whole heartedly and decided to become a Trustee in 2021 as I wanted to be a part of the story that this place continues to write in the history books of peoples lives all over the world.
I currently work in a Doctor’s Surgery as an Operations Administrator and for the Primary Care Network as a Quality Improvement Project Support Officer. Previously I worked in a Primary School as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant 2 days a week and as a School Secretary the other 3 days. I am passionate about kids having positive life experiences and being given the opportunity to grow and develop their own faith journey.
I have 4 kids of my own and my husband, Mike and I both serve on team in our Church in Keynsham. We love God and we love to serve him in whatever capacity we can!
We hope your kids have a great time should they choose to attend any week of Hill House Summer Camps!

I’m Tim and I will be leading the Celebration times during the week. I am married to Laura and we have a brilliant little 6-year-old daughter, a cat, some fish and a house rabbit! All of whom live in the wonderful Welsh Valley of Risca.
I have been told I was first brought to camp as a babe in arms and have been most every year since; keeping to this form, our daughter first came to camp at six weeks old and has joined us every year since!
I have had the privilege of being a camper and serving in many ways at Hill House, from Duties to Tent Officer. I am hugely excited to be back and leading, along with my wife, the celebrations on Week C. Engaging young people with the word of God and letting them know they are fearfully and wonderfully made, loved and full of potential is something we will look to keep at the heart of all we do within those meeting times.
Back in the Valley, I am the assistant Pastor of a brilliant Baptist church called Moriah; Laura runs a preschool, and we both find ways to get involved in the broader life of the church within the area.
