Hill House is a Christian conference centre with a strong Christian ethos providing accommodation and activities to Christian churches, groups and schools.

We are looking for a committed Christian who is able to join our small team of staff. 

You will be required to assist in all aspects of running the centre.

Salary: Salary of £17,435 as part of a total remuneration package of £29,306

Full Description

Working alongside existing staff to serve as a site team member, you will be  supporting the centre manager in the day to day running of Hill House Christian Centre. You will help to facilitate the site to ensure all the guests staying have a safe, positive experience during their visit.  You will also be required to build positive working relationships with church groups, school networks, and any other people wishing to book the site for their group function.  Working closely alongside other team members who live on site is an important requirement, so you will need a can do, diligent attitude towards your role and the tasks asked of you.  Your role can and will include a variety of tasks, please see below for further details.

The role – Key Tasks

Duties include but are not limited to;

  • General office administration
  • Hosting and interacting with the Groups staying
  • Assisting with housekeeping and laundry
  • Assisting with grounds maintenance
  • Assisting with general DIY

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Be a Christian role model for both guests and staff
  • Have a heart for service, evangelism and Christian discipleship
  • Be a People Person – Have a warm, friendly and collaborative approach
  • Be Hands on – self initiated, motivated, problem solver and creative thinker
  • A willingness to be flexible and go the ‘extra mile’
  • Be able to work with and lead School Age Children Activities (Primary / Secondary)
  • Be able to show that you understand risk management and observe health and safety requirements

Key Competencies:

  • Lifeguard – willing to be trained / qualified (requirement)
  • Archery – willing to be trained / qualified (requirement)
  • Able to use some machinery (mower / tractor / tools) – willing to be trained
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office
  • Social Media experience (desirable)
  • A good communicator
  • Able to work both outdoors and indoors
  • Can undertake lone and team working
  • Work on a rota basis to cover weekends and unsociable hours
  • Be ‘on call’ to groups staying
  • Have a current Driving License
  • Good medical fitness – suitable for the tasks required
  • Be a general all-rounder, not necessarily with a specialism

Due to both the nature and context of the role there is a genuine ‘occupational requirement’ for the post holder to be an evangelical Christian. The post holder should be committed to the purpose of Hill House Christian Centre and be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for the Christian purposes of the organisation and be able to live out, hold to, support and contribute to its Christian ethos, Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.

As part of our commitment to Safeguarding the post holder is required to have a cleared DBS.  An Enhanced DBS check will be required for those unable to provide a valid certificate on the Update Service.
